BOXI TRIXI - ARTIST & CREATIVE
PURSUING PEACE THROUGH CREATIVITY!
The creative journey is rarely a straight line, and Boxi Trixi's life is a profound testament to this truth. His remarkable story takes us from the streets of Buenos Aires to top restaurants in Barcelona, working in call centres in Belfast to living in caves in Granada, making music and always creating art that can now be found in cities across the globe. Still never considering himself a chef, a musician or an artist despite reaching a high level in all of these creative endeavours. It’s not about labels for Boxi; it’s about the journey and his unwavering commitment to pursuing what brings him peace rather than ‘conventional’ success.
HARDCORE ATTITUDE!
Growing up in Argentina during the 1980s and 90s, Boxi was deeply influenced by skateboarding and the hardcore music scene, which differed from traditional punk in its activist approach. "Punk rock was like 'no future, life is shit,'" he explains, "while hardcore was like 'fuck this, let's do something about it.'" This DIY ethos became foundational to his approach to the rest of his life – if you have something to say, express it! If you want to do something it’s up to you to make it happen, regardless of technical skill or outside validation. Something that can be seen throughout Boxi’s creative journey.
NO LABELS!
What's particularly striking about Boxi's story is his refusal to be confined by labels. There was no real plan! And he found himself exploring different avenues for his life, which has taken many turns. Despite working in prestigious restaurants in Argentina and Spain, he doesn't consider himself a chef. And despite a fascinating chapter in Boxi's story, his time living in a cave in Granada where he discovered a revolutionary instrument called the handpan (or "hang") which opened doors and allowed him to travel the world and collaborate with renowned musicians for 15 years, he doesn't identify as a musician. Check out the video below.
And, even now, when he is probably most well known now for his distinct Neo Primitive style of art and paste up characters, that can be seen in cities all over the world. Creating power figures or totems that he hopes the viewer builds a relationship with and can inspire them in their lives… He still hesitates to call himself an artist.
THE CREATIVE JOURNEY!
For Boxi, these pursuits aren't about achieving titles or status – they're about the journey and the pursuit of peace. Throughout our conversation, Boxi returns to a profound distinction between happiness and peace. "I don't seek happiness; I'm looking for peace of mind," he emphasises. This perspective challenges conventional wisdom about creative pursuits. For Boxi, creating isn't about expressing pain or achieving recognition – it's about finding harmony within himself that radiates outward. "If I wouldn't be doing this today, I know I wouldn't be in peace. My mind would be troubled, I would be miserable, and if you're miserable, you make the world around you miserable as well." But all of this takes not only sacrifice but also some luck.
BOXI TRIXI - CNL PODCAST
This episode is full of stories of resilience, adaptability, sacrifice and a little bit of luck along the way. In the end, Boxi’s journey reminds us that success isn’t a destination—it’s a rhythm, a flow, a feeling of alignment with who you truly are. It’s about trusting that unconventional paths lead to the most extraordinary places. The world pushes us toward validation, but maybe the real win is waking up every day knowing you’re living on your own terms. And that, in itself, is enough.
