There’s a certain stereotype that comes with being a model! They’re just a pretty face, or a one trick pony and it’s not really a proper job! Well, on the latest episode of The Creative Nowhere Land Podcast we're joined by international model and all-round creative force, Shelby Billingham, who defies the stereotype most people might have about models. Far from being "just a pretty face," this international fashion model has spent a decade building an impressively diverse creative career through sheer determination and an unwavering belief in her own potential.
MODELLING!
Shelby’s modelling career started at just 17 when she signed with global agency IMM, but her creative drive began long before that — from performing with the English Youth Ballet to playing guitar and throwing herself into all things expressive. Over the last 10 years, she’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Gucci, Flannels, Boohoo, and Wella, and built her reputation as a model.
Shelby gives us a behind-the-scenes look into the fashion world — not just the glossy highlights, but the tough moments too. We talk about the resilience, hustle, and adaptability it takes to stay grounded and keep pushing in such a high-pressure environment. The pressure to always look your best even when you aren’t feeling it!

MUSIC & ACTING!
Far from being a’ one-trick pony’ Shelby’s journey doesn’t stop at modelling. We also get into her passion for music production and DJing, where she’s already making waves and reaching large crowds performing at events all over the UK as well as in Dubai and Ibiza. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s now stepping into the world of acting! Ever the performer and always striving for more Shelby has already landed roles in the latest Mission Impossible film and a very well known upcoming BBC drama (she’s not allowed to say which one yet…).
IT’S NOT ALL GLAMOUR!
Shelby’s story took a harrowing turn when a chemical burn from a skincare product, that she was advised to used by a ‘so called’ skincare professional, landed her in hospital on a ventilator and could have ended her career. For anybody this would be hard to deal with but, for Shelby, who’s job is based around her face this was especially difficult! But what followed was a powerful comeback — rebuilding her confidence, rediscovering her creativity, and proving just how strong the human spirit can be.
