STOP THE WORLD - NSFW
‘Not Safe for Work!’ Now, I ummed and ahhed about whether to even put the ‘NSFW’ label on this blog because, realistically, this post is more about celebrating a win as an artist rather than the shock and awe, of some, to the naked body. Trust me you’ll find far worse scrolling on social media that could possibly be ‘NSFW’ than what you’re about to see and read here. Call it a polite warning though? But now I’ve got that out of the way and got your attention let’s get back to the win that I was talking about.
CELEBRATING A WIN!
How often do you celebrate your own wins? If you’re like me then probably not as often as you should. That’s not to say I’m not having those wins, it’s just that I seem much more comfortable shouting about and celebrating other peoples achievements rather than my own. But, something happened, on my birthday actually, last year in 2020 that I never really shouted about but that was something that I was really proud of as an artist. I got asked to take part in the NAKID MAGAZINE - STOP THE WORLD EXHIBITION.
NAKID MAGAZINE EXHIBITION
The NAKID MAGAZINE - STOP THE WORLD EXHIBITION was an exclusive international online art exhibition featuring 100 curated artists from around the world brought together for only 24 hours (it actually got extended for about 4 days in the end) to showcase some of the most amazing nude work across genres to directly support those artists affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Now, I’ve been lucky enough to sell a few pieces privately over the years but I’ve never been in an exhibition as such, even an online one. So, as an artist who's talked about imposter syndrome before, this was a small step towards some personal acceptance of my work at least. And more importantly to me, it was for some of my art nude images! I guess the clue was in the ‘NAKID‘ bit!
ART NUDES…
I haven’t shot any art nude images in a long time and these images were from the archive when they were submitted to the exhibition back in 2020 but it’s something I’d like to get back to. Being recognised by the curators at NAKID MAGAZINE gave me a real buzz for it again, and now we seem past the craziness of the last 18 months it’s something that I’m going to explore more of moving forward with some new shoots.
I’ve also been going through the archive of past shoots and there are definitely some beautiful images that I think are worth sharing in Creative Nowhere Land that I haven’t shared already. So, watch this space for more possible ‘NSFW’ related posts in the future and maybe even an ‘NSFW’ area on the website. But, remember that the whole ‘NSFW’ is all relative anyway right? And we don’t do censorship of creativity here in Creative Nowhere Land but I’ll at least leave the decision on whether to view it or not entirely up to you.
Thanks for letting me celebrate my ‘little win’ from last year with you. I think celebrating these wins are part of the journey and the little things will mount up to bigger, much better things, hopefully, moving forward. So don’t forget to celebrate your own ‘little wins’ in life as well as still celebrating the achievements of others. We all need people to support us along the way, ‘No Man Is an Island’ and all that!
And as I’m definitely not an island, that seems like a seamless link into saying thanks, as always, for reading the blog and taking the time to explore Creative Nowhere Land. I’d appreciate your support in any way you can. Signing up for the newsletter below so you can stay up to date with what’s going on would be great. But also, if anything that I’ve said here has resonated with you in any way, even sharing something with a friend so it can perhaps help inspire someone else would be amazing. I’d love to build a community around Creative Nowhere Land of like-minded individuals and fellow creatives. So if that’s you, then make sure you sign up for the newsletter and come and say hello!
