THE ARTHOUSE PROJECT
‘In a world devoid of colour and expression there comes a time when you stop and look around and realise that your life is lacking something! It’s that expression or application of human creative skill and imagination…Art!’ Nominated for countless accolades and winner of, not one but three prestigious GAR BAGÉ Awards, ‘ART HOUSE’ provides the perfect antidote to that overwhelming sense of lacking and, trust me when I say that your life will never be the same once you see it! It’s the blog post that inspired one courageous artist to…
AND THE AWARD FOR ‘OPENING PARAGRAPH’ GOES TO…
Just kidding! Now I have your attention haha, I should probably finish that sentence shouldn’t I! Well… it’s the blog post that inspired one artist to… set himself the challenge of, for one day and one day only, producing some pieces of art from the things he had around the house!
Not quite how you expected that sentence to end I’m guessing! I might have got a little carried away with the fake film poster, the ‘GAR BAGÉ Awards and dramatic opening haha! All absolute nonsense but it got your attention, didn’t it? What can I say? Underhanded I know but in my defence, the graphic image of the smiley face, yellow on yellow, did remind me of some sort of Irvine Welsh style film poster so I ran with it! Maybe a little too far! Anyway, you’re here now so you might as well read on!
THE CHALLENGE
Sometimes we all have a tendency to overthink things! For example, I spent ages overthinking whether or not to use this Andy Warhol quote again as I’ve used it in a previous blog post. Sometimes it’s better to think less and do more! So that’s what I did! I’ve used the quote again (as it illustrates my point perfectly) and I set myself the challenge of not thinking about making art and just getting it done!
24 hours to make art from the things that I had around the house! The challenge was simple (or so I thought)! It turns out that I made so much absolute ‘GAR BAGÉ’ that I will never show the world, through shame and embarrassment! But, I was making it, and that was the point!
THE RESULTS
Intermingled between all of the ‘GAR BAGÉ’ were a few pieces that I loved! Why these pieces in particular? I didn’t overthink it! I just trusted my gut and these are the ones that stood out! Pieces that I would blow up into large format and hang on my OWN wall so I guess that’s always a good indicator! What about you? Would you hang any of these on your wall?
