TAKE AN INTEREST IN PINTEREST!

Pinterest is awesome! I know I’m probably preaching to the choir but if you’re a creative and you haven’t already taken an interest in Pinterest then you’re missing out. There’s loads of reasons why you should be using Pinterest and there’s blog posts and websites galore shouting about all them. But I want to tell you why I love Pinterest and the reason that I’ve started a page for Creative Nowhere Land.

GREAT VISUAL INSPIRATION.

Pinterest is filled with beautiful images and ideas for every project you might have. You name it and it’s probably on Pinterest somewhere. Whether that’s art, interior design, fashion, architecture, fitness, cooking the list goes on and on and well, on. Whether you need a quick reference image or you’re putting together a whole board of images, Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration but be warned, it can be like a visual rabbit hole if you’re not careful. It’s very easy to lose hours of your life on this site, or maybe that’s just me?

AN ONLINE SCRAPBOOK OF YOUR IDEAS.

So we’ve established that Pinterest is full of great ideas and images. But what I love about Pinterest is that it allows you to save the ideas and images that you see on to Boards. It could be around a theme or a specific concept idea, whatever you like. You can name each board and add as many images as you like to them. They can be shared easily which is great if you’re working with a creative team on a project so you can all see the visual references.

Don’t get me wrong, I still rip things out of magazines, screenshot images and scribble ideas on bits of paper or in sketchbooks but I swear I’ve got OCD so there’s something about being able to organise and categorise all of the references into neat and more importantly, easily accessed boards that I love.

WHY I’VE STARTED A PINTEREST PAGE FOR CREATIVE NOWHERE LAND?

I need inspiration after burning out and Pinterest is a good place for me to start for the reasons above. But as well as focusing on ideas for future shoots or pieces of art, I also want to use the boards to explore the visuals, ideas and themes that have inspired me in my life up to now. The films, the photographers, the artists, the music, the books etc. What are the creative elements that have shaped me as a person? A catalogue or visual history of my inspirations. It feels important to explore that history more to show the influence it’s had on past work and the art I create in the future. It makes sense to me so let’s just go with it.

Obviously, I’ve only just started the CNL Pinterest board. I imagine there’s going to be a lot more added to it in the future as my creative journey moves forward, but it’s a good start. It’ll be really useful for me. It’s also good because, if you’re interested, it gives you the chance to look at some of my influences and the things that excite me creatively as well. Click on the image below if you want to have a look at some of the boards that I’ve created so far.

Thanks for checking the blog out. I slowly feel like I’m getting more creative after my recent Burnout and I hope to share more of this journey with you and hopefully a little more regularly too. It’s all very well talking about creating but it’s about actually creating for me so I’m making a conscious effort to get back to it. Without burning out again obviously. Creativity is a muscle that needs to be trained and I need to get back in training.

If you’re interested in keeping up with my journey into Creative Nowhere Land then I’d love all the support I can get. You can support me by signing up to the newsletter and checking your emails every now and then to see what’s been happening and if you think someone you know might benefit from any of the content then please share it with them. Thanks again for your support.
